What is this program?
The first steps of research in any type of cancer are done in a lab. Some of the basic materials scientists need for their research can only be created from human tumor tissue. A lack of chordoma tumor tissue poses a major challenge to creating these materials and advancing chordoma research.
One critical way patients can help overcome this challenge is by donating tumor tissue to the Chordoma Foundation Biobank through our Tumor Donation Program.
By studying chordoma tumor samples, scientists can learn so much about chordoma and how to treat it. We're currently accepting tumor donations from:
- Pediatric, adolescent, and young adult chordoma patients
- Chordoma patients of any age whose chordoma is poorly differentiated or de-differentiated (vs. conventional)
We can help facilitate the tumor donation process; email us to get started.
For adults with conventional chordomas, our tumor donation program is temporarily paused. You can sign up for our newsletter to be notified when we resume this program, and head here to learn about other ways patients can contribute to research.
